LEAD BUYER - Apparel and Related Accessories

After many years of road tripping to Lander for all of the amazing outdoor activities, around 16 years ago I found Wild Iris Mountain Sports and my opportunity to finally make a vacation destination, a home.

In addition to oversight of all things Wild Iris, I spend a large portion of my workdays, planning for and buying the apparel selection for the Wild Iris. I feel lucky to help outfit the Lander guys and gals in the most current outdoor fashions.

Outside of work I still rock climb when I can and think about it a lot when I can’t. Long hikes deep into Wind River Mountains with my pup Nel and hubby Brian are pretty darn awesome too.

Originally from the Midwest, I'm proud to call Wyoming my home, and more specifically, Lander.  I'm here to become a better climber, keep skiing, and spend as much time as I can in The Winds.

I hope to meet as many people as I can, here at Wild Iris, who share my passion for the outdoors!

Wyoming born, I grew up in Cody. I was introduced to climbing my sophomore year of high school; Since then, in some form or another, it has been a constant presence in my life. I enjoy developing new routes and boulders when I take the time. Road-tripping and living in a tent at climbing areas around the West were a prevalent part of my 20's. These trips were enjoyed with my original climbing friends and partners from our high school days. Many good stories can be recounted from those days, but i digress. At some point we all should grow up a little, so I enrolled in the Computer Networking program at Central Wyoming College, achieving my AAS in that program in May 2012. Two months prior to my graduation, I joined the Wild Iris team and have enjoyed the experience and opportunity. When I came on-board here at the shop I worked the sales floor, but given my penchant for all things computers, except printer installs, I was happy to accept positions in the back office. I am proud to be a part of this team, absolutely appreciate my co-workers and am happy being an integral part of this cornerstone business supported so greatly by the Lander community and beyond!

I grew up and went to college in Boulder, Colorado where I was able to spend most of my free time in the mountains, and climbing areas across the Western United States. I am an avid climber, but I also love trail running, flyfishing, and backpacking.

I have been coming to Lander for the past 5 years, and am so thrilled to be here on the Wild Iris team. I can't think of a better place to call home. The world class limestone, and the welcoming community make Lander a truly amazing town.

Kelsey Ball

A Wyoming girl, Kelsey spent her youth helping her family out with a hobby-ranch property SE of Casper, WY. Her dad taught her about hunting, while her mom showed her fishing edible/medicinal plants. She took her formal education to WWU in Bellingham, WA where she learned to rock climb, mountaineer and ski in the peak packed setting of the North Cascades. Most importantly she earned her degree in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism.

Post-grad, Kelsey purchased Pepper, the Red Truck and continued her education as she traveled solo; climbing, and exploring new communities. Her adventures took her all across the Western United states, down to South America and, two years later, to Lander, WY.

Re-claimed by her home roots and upon realizing that all of her hobbies can be pursued in her WY back yard, she has stuck around Lander for over a year.

As an Outdoor educator, Kelsey will enjoy talking to you about all things outdoors. Most excitedly, she will tell you what a great place Wyoming is and how happy she is to be home!
