FISHING
From fishing the Middle Fork and Stough Creek Lakes to exploring the depths of the Wind River Mountain Range, the recreation in the Lander area is suitable for all types of adventures. In addition to the world-renown climbing and backpacking, the Lander area offers a wide variety of biking opportunities, including desert single track, technical forest riding and smooth road riding; all of which provide a unique method of experiencing the beautiful Wind River Range. As the seasons change, the winter activities include cross- country skiing on the groomed trails of Beaver Creek and the Lander Valley Golf Course as well as off trail cross-country skiing, more technical backcountry skiing and snowshoeing adventures near South Pass and Togwotee Pass. The Wind River Mountains and the Red Desert also provide ample opportunity to witness one of the longest existing migration routes for Pronghorn during the spring and fall when thousands of the animals can be seen running en mass across the high plains. The birding and wildlife viewing in this area is spectacular almost any time of the year.
