Wild Iris Mountain Sports is celebrating our 30th anniversary this year, and we need your help to celebrate and find a way forward during this time of uncertainty. As always, we are delighted and fortunate to be part of our wonderful Lander and greater outdoor community. My husband and co-founder of WIMS, Todd Skinner, was successful because he was adaptable and so darn stubborn (!), so we’re taking our cues from his memory and figuring out how to take the next steps together. At the heart of WIMS is our team, our customers, our community. Right now, we need your help to continue. Our shining goal as always, is to be of service to our community, to contribute our energy, $ and creativity to getting through this time together and to survive as a business.

We are asking 3 things of you today:

  1. Buy a WIMS gift card and a 30th Anniversary T-shirt and we will donate $10 for each t-shirt purchase and 5% of any gift card value to Lander Community Foundation’s Covid 19 Relief Fund. Your purchase will benefit WIMS, Snowdeep Designs (who are printing the T-shirts), and our community. Gift Card purchases will help us with cash flow towards paying our team and expenses during this difficult time, while still giving you the opportunity to shop when we resume normal operations. The T-shirts are being printed locally on a weekly basis and we will notify you as soon as they arrive so we can get them to you. We have a store full of inventory that we can’t wait to share with you, some of which is available right now, online to peruse.

  2. Follow us on IG, like us on FaceBook, send us your email address if that is how you get your information. Share us with your people, your circle, your team.

  3. Share your Wild Iris story with us. Have you worked at WIMS? If so who did you work with? When did you visit the first time? Did you catch a glimpse of Vance White or Jeremy Rowan when you were out at the crag? We want to hear your stories! Use the hashtag #myWIMSstory and tag us @wildirismtn

Finally, I want to share a few words that may help you through this tough time. This comes from an article that Paul Piana wrote about Todd many years ago.

“How would Todd finish this article? I think he would leave us with inspiration. He might say: The next time you stand below a route that you have only dreamed of climbing, begin it with all of your heart and soul. The next time you find yourself with your toes against a blank spot on the map, take another step. The next time you are too tired to go on, think of a team high on Trango Tower after 59 freezing days of climbing - and persevere. The next time you don’t know where to turn, think about where you want to be in 20 years, start moving, not worrying if your goal is straight ahead, and never, never give up.”

Wild Iris Mountain Sports has been here for 30 years and our intention is to be here in the years ahead and to never, never give up.

Stay safe and healthy. Take care of yourselves and look out for each other!

All the best,

Amy
